  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp hot sauce
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In one bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk, egg, and hot sauce until combined.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy-bottom skillet or Dutch oven to 325°F.
  3. Dredge each chicken tender in the flour mixture, dip into the buttermilk mixture, then coat again in the flour mixture for extra crunch.
  4. Fry tenders in batches for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (165°F internal temperature). Let drain on a wire rack.
